Nada Louise McClean, 98, died Sunday, July 5, 2020, at Northcrest Community in Ames Iowa. Nada was born November 7th, 1921, in rural Jasper County. Daughter of Vern and Bertha Klopping, she was the oldest of two children.
Nada graduated from Newton High School in 1939 and went on to attain an Associate degree from AIB in Des Moines. She had employment with several large law firms during World War 2. She met and later married Jim McClean on January 27th, 1945. The couple moved to Ames in 1949 where Jim opened an optometric practice. As Jim's business expanded, she became the office manager for the practice. She volunteered for over 40 years for local elections and enjoyed her volunteer work at Mary Greeley Hospital. Nada was also a member of Beta Tau Delta and became involved with Beauty for All Seasons. She enjoyed dancing with Jim, her family, and was a member of numerous bridge clubs and the Ames Golf and Country Club.
Nada always had a strong faith. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church and later First Evangelical Free Church of Ames. She was highly active in many Bible studies throughout the years. Nada was a devoted wife and mother who always put her family first. We will think of her often, miss her always and love her forever.
A private memorial service will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday, July 8th, at her gravesite in Newton.
Nada is survived by her two children, Gale (Art) Ehlers of Bettendorf and Dan McClean of Dyersville; her sister Verna Lou (Jerry) Power; and her two grandchildren, Matt McClean of Davenport and Michael McClean of Iowa City. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Dr. James R. McClean.
